We were blessed here at MACC to be visited by one of the princes of the Church, Cardinal Renato Martino! He celebrated Mass with us, and stayed for a tour and for a bite to eat. I even got my book Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, signed! His eminence is the president of the Pontifical Council on Justice and Peace, and it was under his leadership that the Compendium was promulgated.  I was really inspired by having met him.  I would encourage all you readers to get a copy of the Compendium it is AS IMPORTANT as the Catechism.  You cannot have one without the other! Seminarians need to be steeped in this doctrine, in order to really serve the People of God.  Cardinal Martino helped convince me of this truth. This is especially true here in the United States in this day and age. If more Catholics here were familiar with Church teaching on this subject, we be a more loving community, and would really understand the meaning of Deus Caritas Est!!
